Hi, my name is Dan Pfanenstiel and this is my web site.
I began making knives almost 15 years ago, when I figured out that it could be done by an individual, such as me, with a little motivation and resourcefulness. This is where I've gotten so far. I've had several people who were inspirational to me in this endeavor. The people whose work I've admired, or have helped me along, have included Scott Slobodian, Howard Clark, Wayne Goddard, Tim Hancock, and many others.
I started this whole thing, years ago, with the idea that I wanted to make a fully mounted japanese katana, and it is this that is my holy grail. It hasn't been nearly as easy as I thought it would be. I'll still wander off into other styles, because it helps keep my interest up, but the japanese style is why I'm here.
